I just spent the last half hour watching the McCain press conference (er, I mean, um, rally). He kept stepping on his "that's not change we can believe in" tagline. I mean stepping all. over. it.
First diary, so go easy on me, please...
I've been following the back-and-forth about Michigan and Florida on this site for awhile now. Most of it is just talking past each other, and I'm sure many of us are looking forward to the days when it's all behind us. Personally, I support seating the FL delegation with 1/2 votes because that's in the rules and the DNC needs to have SOME sort of stick to work with in future elections. I don't think the supers from FL should have full votes, given that they're more responsible for the mess than the voters are, but I honestly don't care that much. MI is trickier, I think it should be 1/2 votes and something should be worked out to recognize that one candidate on the ballot does not make for much of an election.
Throat-clearing aside, it seems that the only argument against 1/2 votes is that the people should be fully represented. "Full representation" is based off of the craziest electoral allocation formula I've ever seen, though.
